Satellite 6.3 Feature Overview: Future Dated Subscriptions

Updated

Satellite 6.3 introduces the ability to import a future dated subscription into a subscription manifest. This means that for anyone that renews their subscription ahead of the existing subscription expiration date, the new subscriptions can be uploaded to the manifest and they will become active as soon as they are valid.

This might be best explained using a scenario:

  • Let's say that you have a subscription that expires on March 30, 2018.
  • You go ahead and renew your subscriptions early on March 15, 2018.

The portal will allow you to import your renewed subscriptions on March 15 and allocate those subscriptions as needed. The renewed subscriptions will not provide content until their start date (March 30, 2018 in this scenario), but the systems will never be without a subscription and an administrator doesn't need to work late on March 30th to apply the renewed subscriptions as soon as the old ones expire.
