Overview Product Availability Matrix for SAP on Red Hat

Updated

This page provides an overview on SAP supported product release combinations for running SAP workload on top of Red Hat products, such as SAP HANA on Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions, or SAP Data Intelligence on OpenShift Container Platform. In doubt, the center of truth remains within the mentioned SAP Notes (SAP S-User required). For better readability of this article, RHEL is used as a synonym for Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions.

General SAP support / non-HANA Certifications

Non-SAP HANA applications, such as SAP NetWeaver, BI and S/4 do not require certification for individual minor versions on RHEL. Once issued by SAP, the support statement is valid for all subsequent minor versions of that particular RHEL major release. Please see the Content from support.sap.com is not included.SAP Product Availability Matrix (PAM) for more details, e.g. platform availability, including database platform and operating systems. The Content from support.sap.com is not included.PAM also offers information about SAP software releases, release types, maintenance durations, planned availability, and upgrade paths.

General Documentation

SAP HANA on Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions

For SAP HANA only specific combinations of SAP HANA SPs and RHEL minor releases are certified by SAP. In addition to the general certification of the RHEL minor releases by SAP, the hardware partners and cloud providers must certify their servers / cloud instances for running specific combinations of SAP HANA and RHEL. For SAP HANA appliance setups customers will have to wait for the appliance vendor to certify their appliance setup for running HANA on RHEL X.y. For SAP HANA TDI setups customers can start using SAP HANA on RHEL X.y if they are using hardware that is listed as certified for HANA TDI in the SAP HANA Hardware Directory

SAP on RHEL on Red Hat Certified Cloud Service Providers

The following shall provide an otherview of the availabilty & certification status of RHEL for SAP with High Availability and Update Services across Red Hat major CCSPs in context of SAP workloads. In doubt, the center of truth remains within the mentioned SAP Notes and websites (SAP S-User required).

Note: SAP HANA is the only SAP application which requires certification by minor versions of RHEL. All other SAP applications, such as SAP NetWeaver, BI and S/4, are certified on major versions of RHEL. For CCSP marketplace image availability, only minor versions with Update Services for SAP (E4S) are going to be published & certified.

Table below summarises status of non-SAP HANA workloads certification on different Certified Cloud Service Providers (CCSP).

SAP Edge Integration Cell on Red Hat OpenShift

SAP Edge Integration Cell (EIC) is a hybrid integration runtime offered as part of SAP Integration Suite. It enables businesses to manage APIs and execute integration scenarios within their private landscape, keeping sensitive data on-premise. EIC is deployed and managed using SAP Edge Lifecycle Management (ELM).

Supported OpenShift Versions (SAP EIC on OCP)

For the current list of supported OpenShift versions, please refer to the official SAP documentation:

As older OCP versions phase out according to the OpenShift Container Platform Life Cycle Policy, the minimum required OpenShift version rises over time. SAP validates compatibility with new OpenShift releases and communicates support via Content from me.sap.com is not included.SAP Note 3247839. Starting from OpenShift 4.18, SAP validates all major OpenShift releases, including odd-numbered versions.

Note: Currently, only container images for the operating system architecture linux/amd64 are supported.
