Upgrade sequence of Metro Disaster Recovery (Metro-DR) cluster in OpenShift Data Foundation

Perform the following steps 1st in Zone-1:

Upgrade OpenShift Container Platform (OCP)

• Step 1: Go to the Hub cluster and upgrade the OCP.
• Step 2: Go to the Managed cluster and upgrade OCP.

Upgrade OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF)

• Step 3: Go to the Managed cluster and upgrade ODF.
• Step 4: Go to the Hub cluster and upgrade the ODF Multicluster Orchestrator.
• Step 5: On the Hub cluster, upgrade OpenShift DR operator.
  • Note: This will also upgrade the DR operators on Managed cluster.

Upgrade Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes (ACM)

• Step 6: On the Hub Cluster, upgrade ACM.
  • Note: This will also upgrade the multicluster engine for Kubernetes.

Repeat the step 1 to step 6 in Zone-2

Note: External Red Hata Ceph Storage (RHCS) cluster can be either updated before or after the upgrade of Metro-DR cluster. Ensure that the compatibility of RHCS in ODF External Mode is maintained as per This content is not included.supportability matrix and that you have chosen the correct ODF version while checking the supportability.
