RHBA-2011:1129 - gdb bug fix update
Synopsis
gdb bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated gdb package that fixes a bug is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.
Description
The GNU Debugger (GDB) allows debugging of programs written in C, C++, Java, and other languages by executing them in a controlled fashion and then printing out their data.
This update fixes the following bug:
- When the GDB convenience variable contained a structure, accessing a field of this structure caused a GDB internal error. The code has been modified to ensure that internal setting of field address is not executed for GDB convenience variables. As result, GDB can now access fields of structures stored in convenience variables. (BZ#728151)
All users of gdb are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which resolves this issue.
