RHBA-2012:0212 - gnome-system-monitor bug fix and enhancement update
Synopsis
gnome-system-monitor bug fix and enhancement update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory (none)
Topic
An updated gnome-system-monitor package that fixes one bug and adds one enhancement is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.
Description
The gnome-system-monitor utility allows users to graphically view and manipulate the running processes on the system, and provides an overview of available resources such as CPU and memory.
This update fixes the following bug:
- The previous version of the gnome-system-monitor utility did not close the socket when it terminated, which may have rendered it unable to start for the second time. This update applies a patch that ensures the socket is properly closed when the utility terminates, and gnome-system-monitor now works as expected. (BZ#616487)
As well, this update adds the following enhancement:
- Previously, the minimum width of the gnome-system-monitor window was limited by the minimum width of its content. Consequently, running this utility on a system with a large number of CPUs caused this window to be very large. This update adds a horizontal scrollbar to make sure the gnome-system-monitor window can fit to the screen even when the system has multiple CPUs. (BZ#722866)
All users of gnome-system-monitor are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which fixes this bug and adds this enhancement.
