An updated rdesktop package that fixes various bugs is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.

Description

The rdesktop package is an open source client for Windows NT Terminal Server and Windows 2000 & 2003 Terminal Services, capable of natively speaking Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) in order to present the user's NT desktop.

This updated rdesktop package fixes the following bugs:

  • When using rdesktop to connect to a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine, the server generated a cursor-related command that rdesktop did not support. As a consequence, the mouse pointer was all black. This update applies an upstream patch to fix this issue and the mouse pointer is now white in color with a black border when connecting to a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine. (BZ#581010)

  • When connecting to a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine, receiving a redirect could cause the rdesktop client to terminate unexpectedly with a segmentation fault. This update applies a patch that fixes this error, and receiving a redirect from a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine no longer causes rdesktop to crash. (BZ#572287)

All users of rdesktop are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which fixes these bugs.
