RHBA-2012:0273 - yum bug fix and enhancement update
Synopsis
yum bug fix and enhancement update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory (none)
Topic
An updated yum package that fixes one bug and adds one enhancement is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.
Description
Yum is a utility that can check for updates and automatically download and install updated RPM packages. Dependencies are obtained and downloaded automatically, prompting the user for permission as necessary.
This update fixes the following bug:
- Prior to this update, the nice level for daemon restarts was inherited from the environment. As a consequence, daemons updated by yum-updatesd restarted at a lower priority and changed the system behaviour. This update modifies the underlying code so that the daemons are now at normal priority of 0. (BZ#552279)
This update also adds the following enhancement:
- This update adds the commands update-to and upgrade-to to the yum package, which allow to upgrade a certain package to a specific version. (BZ#662175)
All users of yum are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which fixes this bug and adds this enhancement.
