RHBA-2012:0557 - squid bug fix update
Synopsis
squid bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated squid packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
Description
Squid is a high-performance proxy caching server for web clients that supports FTP, Gopher, and HTTP data objects.
This update fixes the following bug:
- Squid used as a transparent proxy can only handle the HTTP protocol. Previously, when using Squid as a transparent proxy, it was possible to define a URL in which the access protocol contained the asterisk character (*) or an unknown protocol namespace URI (Uniform Resource Identifier). As a consequence, an "Invalid URL" error message was logged in the access.log file during reload time. This update ensures that "http://" is always used in transparent proxy URLs, and error message is no longer logged in this scenario. (BZ#815682)
All users of squid are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug.
