RHBA-2012:0762 - iptraf bug fix update
Synopsis
iptraf bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory (none)
Topic
Updated iptraf packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
Description
IPTraf is a console-based network monitoring utility. IPTraf gathers data such as TCP connection packet and byte counts, interface statistics and activity indicators, TCP/UDP traffic breakdowns, and LAN station packet and byte counts.
This updated iptraf package fixes the following bug:
- Prior to this update, interface names were checked by IPTraf against a whitelist of names to determine whether an interface was supported. Network devices can have arbitrary names and due to the changes for "Consistent Network Device Naming", the interface names will change to location-based names. Consequently, IPTraf could reject certain interface names. This update removes the interface name check and as a result IPTraf always accepts device names. (BZ#682350)
All users of iptraf are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug.
