RHBA-2012:0954 - xmlrpc-c bug fix update
Synopsis
xmlrpc-c bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory (none)
Topic
Updated xmlrpc-c packages that fix several bugs are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
Description
The xmlrpc-c packages provide a network protocol to allow a client program to make a simple RPC (remote procedure call) over the Internet. It converts an RPC into an XML document, sends it to a remote server using HTTP, and gets back the response in XML.
This update fixes the following bugs:
-
Prior to this update, the "xmlrpc-c-config client --libs" command returned unprocessed output, making it difficult to discern important information from it. This bug has been fixed and the output of the command is now properly pre-processed by the autoconf utility. (BZ#653702)
-
A memory leak was discovered in the xmlrpc-c library by the valgrind utility. A patch has been provided to address this bug and the memory leak no longer occurs. (BZ#741641)
Users of xmlrpc-c are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/articles/11258
