Updated cups packages that fix a bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.

Description

The Common UNIX Printing System (CUPS) provides a portable printing layer for Linux, UNIX, and similar operating systems.

This update fixes the following bug:

  • Previously, when no authentication was initially provided (or even requested), cups returned the "forbidden" status rather than the correct "unauthorized" status. Consequently, certain operations, such as attempts to move a job between queues using the web user interface, failed. An upstream patch has been provided to address this bug and cups now returns correct status in the described scenario. (BZ#854472)

All users of cups are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug.
