RHBA-2013:0067 - yum-updatesd bug fix update
Synopsis
yum-updatesd bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
An updated yum-updatesd package that fixes two bugs is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.
Description
The yum-updatesd package provides notification of updates which are available to be applied to the system. This notification can be done either via syslog, email or over the D-BUS communication system.
This update fixes the following bugs:
-
Previously, after calling the doSetup routine the yum-updatesd daemon was losing the contents of the "ident" variable. Consequently, the data sent to syslog could not be identified properly in the /var/log/messages file. This update modifies the "ident" variable to preserve as expected and information in syslog messages in the /var/log/messages file is correct. (BZ#563494)
-
Due to a misprint, email notifications about available updates contained the word "packets" instead of "packages". This update corrects the spelling. (BZ#597431)
All users of the yum-updatesd are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which fixes these bugs.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata relevant to your system have been applied.
This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/articles/11258
