RHBA-2014:1563 - ORBit2 bug fix update
Synopsis
ORBit2 bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Topic
Updated ORBit2 packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
Description
The ORBit2 packages provide a high-performance Object Request Broker (ORB) for the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA). ORBit allows programs to send requests and receive replies from other programs, regardless of where the programs are located. CORBA is a standard that enables communication between program objects, regardless of the programming language and platform used.
This update fixes the following bug:
- Due to improper synchronization between multiple threads when accessing shared data objects, the bonobo-activation-server process was in certain cases killed by the SIGSEGV signal. With this update, clean-up tasks on one thread have been deferred, so synchronization is no longer necessary. As a result, the process does not crash anymore in the described scenario. (BZ#784223)
Users of ORBit2 are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug.
