Updated libtar packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.
Description
The libtar packages contain a C library for manipulating tar archives. The library supports both the strict POSIX tar format and many of the commonly used GNU extensions.
This update fixes the following bug:
- Previously, the error handling code in libtar did not properly release file descriptors before losing track of them. This led to unnecessary file descriptor leakage. An upstream patch has been applied on libtar source code to properly release file descriptors on error paths. Now, libtar no longer leaks file descriptors. (BZ#785760)
Users of libtar are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied.
