An updated virt-who package that fixes two bugs is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.
[Updated 18 January 2017] The description for BZ#1405618 in this advisory has been updated to state correctly that the virt-who agent sends updates as frequently as it is specified in the interval setting. This update does not change the packages in any way.
Description
The virt-who service collects information about the connection between the hypervisor and its virtual guests that are present in the system and provides the subscription manager with a mapping file containing the hypervisor-guest pairs. The service periodically queries the hypervisor to report its guests and changes the mapping file accordingly, making sure that the information stored in the subscription manager is accurate.
This update fixes the following bugs:

Prior to this update, the virt-who agent did not respect the interval setting. Consequently, the traffic to configured entitlement servers increased. The bug has been fixed, and the virt-who agent now sends updates as frequently as it is specified in the interval setting. (BZ#1405618)

Prior to this update, when connected to the VMware ESX/Vsphere virtual machines, the virt-who agent on virtual machines reported having no universally unique identifier (UUID). This caused unexpected behavior in configured entitlement servers. The bug has been fixed, and the virt-who agent no longer reports virtual machines from VMware ESX/Vsphere which do not have a UUID. (BZ#1405620)
Users of virt-who are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which fixes these bugs.
Solution
