Updated audit packages that fix two bugs are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The audit packages contain the user space utilities for configuring, storing, and searching the audit events which have been generated by the audit subsystem in the Linux kernel.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• Previously, in the auditd.conf configuration file, the audit daemon continued to write logs to the disk even when the "write_logs" option was set to "no". The bug has been fixed, and the audit daemon now respects the value of "write_logs". (BZ#1415724)

• Prior to this update, when the "log_format" option was set to "NOLOG", the audit daemon terminated unexpectedly. The bug has been fixed, and the audit daemon now works as expected. (BZ#1415726)

Users of audit are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied.
