Updated cpio packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.
Description
The cpio packages provide the GNU cpio utility for creating and extracting archives, or copying files from one place to another.
This update fixes the following bug:
- Previously, cpio's Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) checksum algorithm worked with improperly casted or badly sized integers. Consequently, even though the cpio utility extracted files from CRC archives correctly, it failed with a warning that the CRC of the extracted file is incorrect, if the archive contained files larger than 200 MB. To fix this bug, an integer type of proper size has been used. As a result, cpio now extracts files larger than 200 MB from CRC archives correctly. (BZ#1483571)
Users of cpio are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug.
Solution
