Updated python-rhsm and subscription-manager packages that fix several bugs and add one enhancement are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The python-rhsm packages provide a library for communicating with the representational state transfer (REST) interface of a Red Hat Unified Entitlement Platform. The Subscription Management tools use this interface to manage system entitlements, certificates, and access to content.

The subscription-manager packages provide programs and libraries to allow users to manage subscriptions and yum repositories from the Red Hat entitlement platform.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• Previously, when the system locale was set to a non-ASCII translation, the rhsmcertd daemon worker failed due to errors in logs. This update provides rhsmcertd support for non-ASCII locales, and the described problem no longer occurs. (BZ#1484265)

• Previously, the subscription-manager service disabled repositories when the repositories were manually enabled immediately after attaching a subscription. As a consequence, if certain manual edits were made to a repository, then the subsequent "yum" commands would overwrite them. With this update, defaults for the repository are now recorded properly. As a result, repositories manually enabled remain enabled after running "yum". (BZ#1486338)

• Previously, the subscription-manager service unset the release version when a rate limit error was hit. As a consequence, rate limit errors were incorrectly handled. This update uses a locally cached value when rate limit errors are hit. As a result, the release version remains set in the described scenario. (BZ#1486549)

In addition, this update adds the following enhancement:

• With this update, the subscription-manager yum plugin has been added to the "yum-config-manager" command. As a result, "yum-config-manager" can be used inside a container to enable repositories, without first running the "yum" command. (BZ#1486326)

Users of subscription-manager are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs and add this enhancement.
