RHBA-2019:0187 - lvm2 bug fix update
Synopsis
lvm2 bug fix update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory None
Topic
Updated lvm2 packages that fix several bugs are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.
Description
The lvm2 packages include complete support for handling read and write operations on physical volumes, creating volume groups from one or more physical volumes, and creating one or more logical volumes in volume groups.
This update fixes the following bugs:
-
Previously, if there were no aio contexts available on the system, the lvm utility failed to set up aio and terminated unexpectedly with the "io_setup failed" error message. With this update, lvm now falls back to using sync I/O when io_setup fails. As a result, the described problem no longer occurs. (BZ#1656498)
-
Previously, the "dmstats report" command did not print statistics for any registered regions. With this update, the problem has been fixed, and the "dmstats report" command now lists all registered regions correctly. (BZ#1647718)
-
Previously, LVM incorrectly identified mdraid physical volumes that used certain versions of metadata. As a result, the volume group that included the physical volumes was unable to activate. With this update, the problem has been fixed. (BZ#1657640)
Users of lvm2 are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs.
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied.
