RHBA-2019:1409 - gluster-block bug fix update

Synopsis

gluster-block bug fix update

Type/Severity

Bug Fix Advisory None

Topic

An updated gluster-block package that fixes one bug is now available for Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage 3.11 Batch 3 Update.

Description

gluster-block is a distributed management framework for block devices, provided as a command line utility. It aims to make Gluster-backed block storage creation and maintenance as simple as possible. gluster-block can provision block devices and export them as iSCSI LUNs across multiple nodes and uses iSCSI protocol for data transfer as SCSI block/commands.

Block storage allows the creation of high-performance individual storage units. unlike the traditional file storage capability that glusterfs supports, each storage volume/block device can be treated as an independent disk drive, so that each storage volume/block device can support an individual file system.

This advisory fixes the following bug:

  • The current gluster-block command-line interface (cli) wait timeout is hardcoded to 600 sec in the code. If the gluster-block ‘create’ command takes more than 600sec, the CLI returns after hitting timeout even before daemon responds to request. As a consequence, bigger volumes are not created with pre-allocation full, using heketi. With this fix, users can add an option to configure the CLI wait timeout to a bigger number. (BZ#1665543)

Users of gluster-block are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug.
