RHBA-2020:3820 - RHV Engine and Host Common Packages 4.4.z [ovirt-4.4.2]

Synopsis

RHV Engine and Host Common Packages 4.4.z [ovirt-4.4.2]

Type/Severity

Bug Fix Advisory None

Topic

Updated dependency packages for ovirt-engine and ovirt-host that fix several bugs and add various enhancements are now available.

Description

The ovirt-engine package provides the Red Hat Virtualization Manager, a centralized management platform that allows system administrators to view and manage virtual machines. The Manager provides a comprehensive range of features including search capabilities, resource management, live migrations, and virtual infrastructure provisioning.

The Manager is a JBoss Application Server application that provides several interfaces through which the virtual environment can be accessed and interacted with, including an Administration Portal, a VM Portal, and a Representational State Transfer (REST) Application Programming Interface (API).

The ovirt-host package consolidates host package requirements into a single meta package.

Changes to the ovirt-engine-metrics component:

  • Metrics Store support has been removed in Red Hat Virtualization 4.4. Administrators can use the Data Warehouse with Grafana dashboards (deployed by default with Red Hat Virtualization 4.4) to view metrics and inventory reports. See https://grafana.com/docs for information on Grafana. Administrators can also send metrics and logs to a standalone Elasticsearch instance. (BZ#1827177)

Changes to the ovirt-hosted-engine-setup component:

  • Before this update, when the Blank template was set with HA enabled, a backup of the RHVM virtual machine saved this setting. This setting prevented deployment of the RHVM virtual machine during the restore operation. Consequently, upgrading to Red Hat Virtualization 4.4 failed.

This update disables the HA setting on the RHVM virtual machine during self-hosted engine deployment, and as a result, the upgrade to 4.4 succeeds. (BZ#1866956)
