RHBA-2021:0569 - leapp and leapp-repository bug fix and enhancement update
Synopsis
leapp and leapp-repository bug fix and enhancement update
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory None
Topic
An update for leapp and leapp-repository is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extras.
Description
The leapp packages provide the Leapp utility, a framework for performing an in-place upgrade from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. The leapp-repository packages provide modules for the Leapp utility.
The leapp and leapp-repository packages have been updated to provide bug fixes and enhancements over the previous versions. (BZ#1915508, BZ#1915509)
Notable enhancement in this release:
- You can create custom scripts for the Leapp pre-upgrade report. See Customizing your Red Hat Enterprise Linux pre-upgrade report for details.
The supported in-place upgrade paths currently are:
-
From RHEL 7.8 to RHEL 8.2 on the 64-bit Intel, IBM POWER 8 (little endian), and IBM Z architectures
-
From RHEL 7.6 to RHEL 8.2 on architectures that require kernel version 4.14: IBM POWER 9 (little endian) and IBM Z (Structure A)
-
From RHEL 7.7 to RHEL 8.2 on systems with SAP HANA.
See Supported in-place upgrade paths for Red Hat Enterprise Linux linked from the References section.
IMPORTANT: To ensure your system remains supported after upgrading to RHEL 8.2, either update to the latest RHEL 8.3 version or enable the RHEL 8.2 Extended Update Support (EUS) repositories. On systems with SAP HANA, enable the RHEL 8.2 Update Services for SAP Solutions (E4S) repositories.
For detailed instructions on performing an in-place upgrade, see Upgrading from RHEL 7 to RHEL 8 linked from the References section.
