Why is my bonding mode not being set correctly in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4?
Environment
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4
Issue
Bonding mode is not being set correctly in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.
Resolution
Administrators should use mode numbers instead of mode names in their /etc/modprobe.conf file when setting up bonding in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. For example, to set up a bonded interface in active-backup mode (mode 1), use the line:
install bond0 /sbin/modprobe bonding -o bond0 mode=1 primary=eth0
