Is it possible to use 'puppet module install module-name' command with puppet repositories hosted on Satellite 6 ?

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 6.0

Issue

  • The puppet module install module-name command fails with messages as below,
# puppet module install ntp-0.0.10 --module_repository http://satellite.example.com
Notice: Preparing to install into /etc/puppet/modules ...
Notice: Downloading from http://satellite.example.com ...
Error: Could not execute operation for 'ntp-0.0.10'
  The server being queried was http://satellite.example.com/v3/releases?module=ntp-0.0.10
  The HTTP response we received was '404 Not Found'
    Check the author and module names are correct.

Resolution

  • Its not possible to use puppet module install module-name with Satellite pulp repositories. This is being tracked as feature request in internal bugzilla. Contact Red Hat Technical Support for more details on it.
