Domain controller and host controller lose connection due to 'OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space'

Solution Unverified - Updated

Environment

  • JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6.1.1

Issue

  • When doing deployments, the domain controller and host controllers lose connectivity, resulting in having to restart the entire environment.
  • OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space in the JBoss server log:
SEVERE [com.sun.jersey.spi.container.ContainerResponse] (https-executor-threads - 29) The exception contained within MappableContainerException could not be mapped to a response, re-throwing to the HTTP container: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space

Resolution

This bug is fixed in EAP 6.3.0. A workaround is to avoid hot deployment, which is not recommended in a production environment. See "Is hot redeployment recommended in production for JBoss?".
