Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (with the High Availability Add on)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 (with the High Availability Add on)

Issue

  • How do I configure the fence agent fence_apc_snmp?

Resolution

  • Connect the cluster nodes to the APC device
  • Install the package net-snmp-utils on all cluster nodes.
# yum install net-snmp-utils
  • Verify the file exists on all the cluster nodes:
 /usr/share/snmp/mibs/powernet369.mib 
  • Log into the web interface of the APC and verify that SNMP is enabled by doing the following.
    • Goto Administration
    • Goto Network
    • Goto SNMPv1 Access and enable SNMPv1 access
    • Click on Apply Button
