CDI injections fail if a deployment overlay for descriptors is used in an application deployed at EAP6

Environment

• Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
  • 6.x

Issue

• A EAR file contains a module which enable CDI by having a META-INF/beans.xml. This work correct without an applied overlay
  If any of the descriptors is overlayed the CDI injection will not be processed! The variables remain NULL.
• The deployment fail after using deployment overlay with WELD-001408 dependency errors

Resolution

This is a bug and will be tracked by This content is not included.BZ 1287732.
The fix is scheduled for an EAP 6.4 CP

As a workaround the beans.xml can be added to the overlay as well
