It is not possible to change storage node heap size via JBoss ON UI

Solution Unverified - Updated

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (ON) 3.3.0, 3.3.1, 3.3.2, 3.3.4, 3.3.5
  • Attempt to change value of the Heap Size property in JBoss ON UI -> Administration -> Storage Nodes in Storage Node Specific Settings section as explained in the Red Hat Documentation 9.7. Managing The Storage Node Heap;

Issue

  • It is not possible to change storage node heap size via JBoss ON UI;

Resolution

This was a bug, reported in This content is not included.Red Hat Bugzilla 1299448 and fixed in JBoss ON 3.3.6 and later.

In case that JBoss ON update is not possible, the following workaround can be used - change max heap value directly in the $JON_SERVER_HOME/rhq-storage/conf/cassandra-jvm.properties file as explained in the Red Hat knowledge solution: How to increase storage node heap size in JON?.

Root Cause

In the older versions of JBoss ON (prior to 3.3.6) it was not possible to change max heap value using JBoss ON UI as change would not be applied and previous value was shown in the JBoss ON UI after storage node was restarted
