Group metric line graph is hard to read after applying JBoss ON 3.3 Update-08 (3.3.8)

Solution Verified - Updated

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (ON) 3.3 Update-08 (3.3.8)
  • Viewing compatible group metric graph that includes 2 or more resources

Issue

Resolution

This issue has been addressed in JBoss ON 3.3 Update-09 (3.3.9). The large circles have been replaced by standard graph points.

Root Cause

The fix for This content is not included.Red Hat Bugzilla 1236021 added a hollow circle to the line graph to represent a real data value on the graph. When dealing with a single data point or when data point values are far enough apart from one another, the graph is readable. However, when data point values are close together the circles overlap each other and the plotted line of the line graph. This makes it very difficult to recognize individual graph lines or their associated data points.

Furthermore, the original issue reported in Bugzilla 1236021 was not actually resolved as the chart continues to be plotted with a value of 0 for each data point that would fall outside of the collection schedule interval. With the addition of the hollow circle, the readability is even worse when the plotted line is jumping to and from 0.
