Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
  • java-1.8.0-openjdk-1.8.0.131-3.b12.el7_3.x86_64

Issue

  • After updating OpenJDK, our java process size grows until all memory is consumed
  • Java processes are killed by oom-killer after updating OpenJDK

Resolution

  • Upgrade to java-1.8.0-openjdk-1.8.0.151-5.b12.el7_4 or later, which incorporates RHBA-2017:3488.
