HotSpot leaking memory in long-running requests

Environment

Issue

  • OpenJDK 8's HotSpot virtual machine was found to leak memory when left running for long periods
  • We are facing issue reported in https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8188130 which is reported on the version installed JDK 8 u144).
    and this issue seems to have been fixed in openJDK 8u152 build.

Resolution

  • Update to version java-1.8.0-openjdk-1.8.0.151-5.b12.el7_4

Root Cause

OpenJDK 8's HotSpot virtual machine was found to leak memory when left running for long periods. With this update, the leak in the virtual machine's sweeper code is fixed. As a result, the virtual machine no longer leaks memory when left for long periods.
