Resource group or type definitions are not applied to individual resources when created through JBoss ON REST API

Solution Verified - Updated

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (ON) 3.3
  • Resource group alert definition created through REST API
  • Resource type template alert definition created through REST API

Issue

  • Creating a group or template alert through the REST API does not correctly populate member resources with resource level alert definitions

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in the latest update for JBoss ON 3.3.

Root Cause

The REST API applied a group alert definition or alert definition template to the resource group definition or the resource type definition respectively. However, it failed to apply the alert definition to the individual group members or resources of the target resource type. This resulted in the alert definition only being applied to newly added resource group members or newly imported resources of the target resource type, unless the alert definition was modified from within the JBoss ON user-interface (UI) after it had been created or updated via the REST API.
