While creating user with hammer having external authentication source LDAP/AD results in error: Could not create the user: Missing arguments for user[password] in Red Hat Satellite.

Environment

• Red Hat Satellite 6.3.x.

Issue

• When creating a user on satellite 6.3 with hammer having external authentication source LDAP/AD gives an error if password parameter not mentioned.

# hammer user create --auth-source-id 3   --firstname abc --lastname xyz   --login abc123 --mail 'abc@example.com' --roles 'Access Insights Viewer,Customized Viewer,Red Hat Access Logs,Tasks Reader,View hosts' 
Could not create the user:
  Missing arguments for 'user[password]'     

• Password parameter is mandatory while creating a user having external authentication source LDAP/AD using hammer.

Resolution

• This was a known issue which can be tracked under the Bugzilla This content is not included.1561691 and it has been fixed via RHSA-2019:1222 in Red Hat Satellite 6.5.
