Red Hat Enterprise Linux HTTPS support in iPXE

Issue

This article contains information about supported protocols in iPXE shipped in Red Hat Enterprise Linux in regards to security.

Resolution

Red Hat Enterprise Linux ships iPXE binary compiled with HTTP and FTP protocols only. Crypto code included in iPXE code base does not meet Red Hat security standards therefore HTTPS protocol is intentionally not compiled in.

Host Bootdisk and Generic Bootdisk in Satellite 6 are both based in iPXE, therefore HTTPS protocol is not available there either.
