OpenShift Container Platform Cluster Metrics on IBM Power

Environment

• Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
  • 3.10
  • 3.11

Issue

• I tried installing metrics on our ppc64le cluster but the hawkular-metrics pods keeps failing. I looked at the events and it is failing to pull down the correct container.
• The hawkular-metrics and hawkular-cassandara pods failed to pull their power images when installing metrics

Resolution

• Currently, metrics cannot be installed in an OpenShift Container Platform Cluster(OCP) version 3.10 when running on IBM Power
  • Please wait for the release of OCP version 3.11 images for IBM Power to be released as Prometheus was GA'd in OCP version 3.11 which will be an alternative to get metrics running.

Root Cause

• Unfortunately the hawkular-metrics and cassandra Power images were never created
  • We are working to This content is not included.update the documentation to reflect that these images could Not be built and therefore will not be supported on Power at all.
