[Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5] Full-virt guest consumes regular Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription on Red Hat Network
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5
- Xen Virtualization
Issue
- When I try to register a RHEL 5.5 fully virtualized guest to Red Hat Network (RHN), it consumes a regular Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription instead of an inherited entitlement provided by 'Virtualization' or 'Virtualization platform' entitlement or channel Flex Guest Entitlement. (Or it failed if the account doesn't have enough regular Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions).
Resolution
- Apply RHBA-2010-0328 to the virtual guest.
- Then follow this kbase to register the system to RHN: How do I register my Red Hat Enterprise Linux Virtual Guest system with the Red Hat Network?
Root Cause
- A <a href=https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=576637">Bug-576637 in RHN client tools on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5.
