Ignition File not Read During UPI Installation

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform v4.1

Issue

When installing OpenShift using UPI, the URL of the ignition file must be given to the RHCOS installer. If server hosting the ignition file returns an HTTP status 404, the RHCOS installer will not indicate an error and installation will proceed. However, the OpenShift UPI installation will fail. An HTTP status 404 may be returned if an incorrect file is referenced in the URL.

Resolution

Confirm the correctness of the entered URL with curl prior to installation.

Diagnostic Steps

Check the web server logs to confirm that the RHCOS installer successfully accessed the URL.
