Packages in CodeReady Linux Builder are not supported
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9
Issue
-
Are the packages in the CodeReady Linux Builder repository supported?
-
What is the support policy for the packages in the CodeReady Linux Builder repository?
Resolution
All Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions include the new Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9 repositories. In addition to the BaseOS and Appstream repos, both enabled by default, is a new repository for developers. All subscriptions include access to the new CodeReady Linux Builder repository. As the name implies, CodeReady Linux Builder is for developers who develop Red Hat Enterprise Linux applications and includes a number of packages for developers to use when building their applications. Similar to the Optional repo in previous versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the CodeReady Linux Builder contains build tooling and -devel packages and is not supported.
Red Hat will update and maintain content in CodeReady Linux Builder during the life of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9 but packages in CodeReady Linux Builder are not supported and have no ABI compatibility guarantee. Developers are encouraged to use the content when needed to build their applications but should use caution when installing packages from this repo on production systems.
