Missing openshift-ansible package in OpenShift Container Platform 3.11.117

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.11

Issue

  • We are updating our OpenShift Cluster to the version and have found that newest openshift-ansible package version is 3.11.123 but there is no such container image (3.11.117 newest).
  • openshift-ansible package is available in version 3.11.123 but atomic-openshift* packages are only available in 3.11.117 version. What version should be used and why is there a mismatch?

Resolution

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.11.117 was released via RHBA-2019:1605, which does contain OpenShift Container Platform 3.11.117 packages, updated Container Images and openshift-ansible in version 3.11.123-1.git.0.db681ba.el7. The reason on why there is a mismatch between the OpenShift Container Platform - Packages/Container Images and the openshift-ansible package is because a last minute problem was found (This content is not included.RHBZ #1720581), which caused openshift-ansible package being updated and re-created, which subsequently generated a newer version.

Such a version difference is nothing new and happen before in other version of OpenShift Container Platform. If customers plan to update to OpenShift Container Platform 3.11.117 (RHBA-2019:1605) they should make sure that they are using openshift-ansible-3.11.123-1.git.0.db681ba.el7 to have the latest version available. In case customers want to make sure a specific version of OpenShift Container Platform is being installed/updated, openshift_image_tag and openshift_pkg_version can be used as documented in What is the correct syntax for OpenShift inventory file variables openshift_release, openshift_pkg_version, and openshift_image_tag? to specify the version wanted.
