Prevent mounting of another filesysem on already used mount point

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7

Issue

  • Customer wishes to have mount options that will prevent reject multiple mounting of the same partition/lv

Resolution

  • RHEL5: This functionality is not available.
  • RHEL6: The RHEL kernel has the required parts since version 2.6.32-504, the RHEL6.6GA kernel. The RHEL6 userland does not provide the required functionality to use the functionality.
  • RHEL7: This functionality is provided in the ext4 and the kernel package in RHEL 7. For details please refer to RHEL7: How can I setup and use "multi mount protection" for the ext4 filesystem?.
