EUS repositories not available in Satellite after enabling Simple Content Access
Environment
- Red Hat Satellite 6.3 and < 6.6.3
- Manifest using Simple Content Access
- Any Red Hat Enterprise Premium Subscription providing access to Extended Update Support (EUS)
Issue
- Unable to list/enable EUS repositories on the RHEL client registered in the Satellite server with Simple Content Access enabled
Resolution
- The issue has been fixed in version 6.6.3 of Red Hat Satellite.
- If this issue affects your environment please open a support case with Red Hat.
Root Cause
- Simple Content Access provides access to content of any product, of which at least 1 valid subscription exists.
- Access to EUS is indirectly granted by Red Hat Premium subscriptions, not explicitly.
- As no explicit valid RHEL EUS subscription is present, it will be removed by Satellite.
Diagnostic Steps
-
Import manifest with content access mode set to Organization Environment Access to Satellite.
-
Check Content Access Mode on the client
# subscription-manager status +-------------------------------------------+ System Status Details +-------------------------------------------+ Overall Status: Disabled Content Access Mode is set to Organization/Environment Access. This host has access to content, regardless of subscription status. -
List repositories on the client
# subscription-manager repos --list +----------------------------------------------------------+ Available Repositories in /etc/yum.repos.d/redhat.repo +----------------------------------------------------------+ Repo ID: rhel-7-server-rpms Repo Name: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Server (RPMs) Repo URL: https://satellite.example.com/pulp/repos/EXAMPLE.COM/Library/hana-rhel76-x86_64/content/dist/rhel/server/7/7.6/$basearch/os Enabled: 1 -
Result: EUS is not available
