How to re-deploy Ceph Monitor in a director deployed Ceph cluster

  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform 13
  • Red Hat Ceph Storage 3.x

Issue

  • How to re-deploy a Ceph Monitor in a director deployed RHCS cluster ?

Resolution

  • Remove the Monitor manually from the controller node. Please refer to our OpenStack Guide regarding the same.

  • Although above instructions say that archiving the monitor data can be optional (steps 6) it may be a blocker sometimes and mandatory to do.

  • Re-run the same deployment command for overcloud :

    openstack overcloud deploy \
    --templates \
    -r <ROLES DATA FILE> \
    -n <NETWORK DATA FILE> \
    -e /home/stack/templates/overcloud_images.yaml \
    -e <ENVIRONMENT FILE> \
    -e <ENVIRONMENT FILE>
