RHEL-8.9 install medium not available even if synced

Solution Verified - Updated

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 6

Issue

  • Repository sync of RHEL-8.9 Kickstart BaseOS and AppStream has finished successfully.
  • Still RHEL-8.9 install medium is not available/greyed out in the media selection within Host Groups.

Resolution

How to add new kickstart trees for minor versions to Satellite:

  1. On Satellite GUI navigate to Red Hat Repositories.
  2. From dropdown uncheck RPM.
  3. From dropdown check kickstart.
  4. Switch to "on" recommended Repositories.
  5. Select kickstart repository for minor version.
  6. Synchronize content to the repositories selected.
  7. After the sync, the kickstart is added automatically to the partition table "Kickstart default" and Operating System.
  8. Navigate to Hosts --> Provisioning Template. On the Association tab, select the appropriate operating system and click Submit.
  9. In Hosts --> Operating systems - > add partition table "Kickstart default".
  10. Add repo to Content Views (CV) or create a new CV with just the kickstart repo(s).
  11. Publish the CV.
  12. Publish the Composite Content View (CCV) and promote it to the Life Cycle Environment as required.

Now the new kickstart trees will show up in the OS section of host create as "synced content".
