Applying an applicable errata from the Red Satellite 6 WebUI to the hosts that are associated with the content view does not create an incremental version of the content view.

Solution Verified - Updated

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 6.8
  • Red Hat Satellite 6.9

Issue

  • When trying to apply an applicable errata from the Red Hat Satellite WebUI using the below steps, instead of generating an Incremental version of the content view, the Red Hat Satellite Server is going directly to the Job that tries to apply the errata via Remote Execution.

    Satellite WebUI -> Content -> Errata -> Search for applicable errata -> Select an applicable errata -> Apply
    

Resolution

Workaround-1:

  • Set Use remote execution by default to No/False on Red Hat Satellite WebUIand perform the incremental update of the content view, then manually run the remote execution job.

    Satellite WebUI -> Administer -> Settings -> Content -> Use remote execution by default -> No
    

Workaround-2:

  • Use hammer utility to perform an incremental update of the content view, then manually run the remote execution job.
