Host Group does not inherit content view and lifecycle environment for the discovered host in Red Hat Satellite 6

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 6.10.x

Issue

  • Host Group is not populating many information while selecting Host Group for the provision of Discovered Host from the following path:
 Satellite WEBUI >> Hosts >> Discoverd Hosts >> Click on Provision >> Select Host Group >> Customize Host

Resolution

  • This issue has been reported to the Engineering team via Bugzilla This content is not included.2069324.

  • At present, There are two known workarounds present to overcome this challenge.

    • Have the Discovery Rules configured for the Auto-Provisioning of the discovered hosts to avoid any manual intervention via the Satellite WebUI. Refer to the This content is not included.blog post to learn more about how to work with Discovery Rules.

    • Alternatively, the hammer CLI can be used in the following way to deploy a system after it has been discovered.

      # hammer discovery provision --name mac5XYZ00fea3X1 --hostgroup-id 1 --organization-id 1 --location-id 2 --new-name myhost --build true
