Red Hat Runtimes , JBoss EAP support on JDK 6 / JDK 7
Resolution
Red Hat OpenJDK 1.6 & 1.7 [1], Oracle JDK 1.6 & 1.7 [2], IBM JDK 1.6 & 1.7 [3] and HP JDK 1.7 are all end of life, as a result EAP 6 requires one of the supported JDK 8 listed on JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6 Supported Configurations to be supported.

Root Cause
The JDK needs to be supported by its vendor for EAP to be supported since issues could require a fix in either layer and an underlying layer no longer supported makes this not possible for the stack to be supported.
