Solution Verified - Updated

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 6.11
  • Red Hat Enteprise Linux 7.9

Issue

Leapp reports the following inhibitor in /var/log/leapp/leapp-report.txt while upgrading Red Hat Satellite 6.11 from RHEL 7.x to RHEL 8.x:

----------------------------------------
Risk Factor: high (inhibitor)
Title: Old PostgreSQL data found in /var/lib/pgsql/data
Summary: The upgrade wants to move PostgreSQL data to /var/lib/pgsql/data,
but this directory already exists on your system.
Please make sure /var/lib/pgsql/data doesn't exist prior to the upgrade.
Key: d10f8ee9e6bc4b73daff9c33671d1516136d53d8
----------------------------------------

Resolution

  1. Back up the /var/lib/pgsql/data directory.

  2. Delete the /var/lib/pgsql/data directory from disk.

  3. Re-run the following command, and verify that the Old PostgreSQL data found in /var/lib/pgsql/data inhibitor is no longer reported in /var/log/leapp/leapp-report.txt:

# leapp preupgrade
  1. If no other inhibitors are reported, proceed with the in-place upgrade from RHEL 7.x to RHEL 8.x. Make sure you have a good backup/snapshot of the Satellite server before you proceed.
