Adding RADOS namespace for external mode cluster - OpenShift Data Foundation 4.15 Developer preview
Environment
- Red Hat Openshift Data Foundation (RHODF)
- 4.15
- 4.16
- 4.17
Issue
Starting with OpenShift Data Foundation 4.15 adding RADOS namespace is a Dev-preview feature for external mode.
Resolution
Refer to the OpenShift Data Foundation in external mode guide for deploying the cluster in external mode.
Adding RADOS namespace for a new external cluster
-
During external mode deployment, run the Python script with the additional flags
--rados-namespaceand multi-tenant flag--restricted-auth-permissions.
For example:$ python3 external.py --rbd-data-pool-name <replica-pool-name> --rados-namespace <rados-namespace-name> --k8s-cluster-name <rook-storage> --restricted-auth-permission true- With the above execution of python script, a new RADOS block device (RBD) storage class section will be added in the JSON output. The new RBD storage class created in the OpenShift Data Foundation cluster uses the new specific namespace for provisioning the storage instead of the complete pool.
Note: A developer preview feature is subject to Developer preview support limitations. Developer preview features are not intended to be run in production environments. The clusters deployed with the developer preview features are considered to be development clusters and are not supported through the Red Hat Customer Portal case management system. Development Preview features are meant for customers who are willing to evaluate new products or releases of products in an early stage of product development. If you need assistance with developer preview features, reach out to the ocs-devpreview@redhat.com mailing list and a member of the Red Hat Development Team will assist you as quickly as possible based on availability and work schedules.
