Does Red Hat support version drift between OpenShift Elasticsearch Operator and OpenShift Logging Operator starting from RHOL v5.9 in RHOCP 4

Solution Verified - Updated

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP)
    • 4
  • Red Hat OpenShift Logging (RHOL)
    • 5.9+
  • Elasticsearch Operator

Issue

  • As per the documentation OpenShift Elasticsearch Operator(EO) will not be receiving any new release which means version 5.8 is the last version of EO provided by Red Hat. Will Red Hat support a Logging stack where EO is running on version 5.8.z and RHOL is running on a higher version i.e 5.9.z or higher?
  • Does Red Hat support version drift between EO and RHOL since no newer version of EO is going to be released?

Resolution

  • Red Hat supports version drift and allows using EO on version 5.8.z and RHOL on version 5.9.
  • Red Hat supports using EO on version 5.8 on all the future release of RHOL version 5.y.z (5.9 or higher) as a part of RHOL version 5.
