OpenShift sandboxed containers operator 1.7 is not available

Environment

  • OpenShift Container Platform(OCP) 4.14 or below
  • OpenShift sandboxed containers (OSC) 1.6 or below

Issue

I see that OSC 1.7 has been released, but it is not available for me and I cannot upgrade.

Resolution

Upgrade you OCP to 4.15 or later. Once upgraded, the OSC 1.7 will become available as well.

Root Cause

As per This content is not included.KATA-3300 - OSC 1.7.0 cannot support peer pods on OCP 4.14 and older, OSC 1.7 introduces new changes related to Peer pods support, which require cri-o version 1.28. This version of cri-o is only available from OCP 4.15 onwards (kata-containers rpm version 3.7.0-2 and above).
